Through the `1940s this game spread in South America and by 1948 had reached North America where it was called Argentine Rummy. Charlemagne is a trick taking card game in the Euchre family mainly played in south eastern Canada and parts of the north eastern United States. It is popular among French speaking people, and is named for the famous Frankish King Charlemagne. It is mostly known for being a Bidding Euchre game with a bid that allows the player to try and earn no tricks.
